inspired a while back by julie's blog post on making pizzas on the grill and the fact that my mother makes delicious pizzas on the grill and i burned my first one (mind you it was a little frumpy charcoal grill), i had to try again. inspiration calls for a pizza party.
ain't no boboli here. my roommate and i made all the dough from scratch. despite concerns or doubts, it turned out perfectly!!
introducing the pizzas:
first up was Kristine's artichoke pizza. it was delicious!
i transitioned this walnut, pear and gorgonzola pita pizzas into a real PIE! yummy!
the mladineo duo created the hawaiian! aloha!!!
the first one on the grill was my favorite of the eve. i got the idea for this one from the restaurant my mother and i went to in northbeach called Tonys Napoletana. My favorite pizza of the lot we sampled was the proscuitto, havarti and fig jam pizza. I transitioned this one just a bit. I substituted gorgonzola cheese for the harvarti and i added arugula as a topping (see below). it was out of this world. and guess what? there is still fig jam left, which only means more pizza please!
an overall very very delicious and successful (i didn't burn the above pizza) evening.
other pies not mentioned were the bbq chicken and the caprese. too many delicious choices.
ok pear walnut gorgonzola is brilliant. oh man i wish i could come to your pizza parties. i want to post something lovely on here.....but everything good that i make is poached from dinner with julie. i am so creative it is sickening. my post would basically be a link to julie's blog. gotta love that girl!
