for the first treat of Christmas, Sarah gave to us: Homemade Oreo Cookies

Homemade Oreo Cookies

Ingredients have been mixed

The oven has been on

Taste testing ensued

and

pounds have been gained.

The critics have weighed in & it is official.

"THE" Christmas cookie of the Benson household:

HOMEMADE OREOS

The cookies:

2 Devils food chocolate cake mixes

4 eggs

1 cup oil

Mix above ingredients, just throw them all into the bowl and get your kitchen aid mixing until it looks like above. Whatever dough is left after your picking, roll into 1 inch balls. Bake 7-10 minutes at 350F. Cool.

The Icing:

8oz cream cheese (softened)

1 lb icing sugar

2 tbsp butter

2 tsp vanilla

(you can substitute peppermint if you'd prefer mint oreos)

Mix and spread icing between 2 cookies. You can also roll the edges of the cookie into crushed candy canes, pushing them into the icing, for festive looking cookies. Hard cookies will soften once icing has been on for several hours.

This recipe thankfully makes A LOT of cookies. Like a whole lot. Which means a lot of happy friends & family and most importantly-

THE BIG GUY
